Intimates

The drawings in the Intimates series are a part of an ongoing body of work that explores the details of everyday garments and emphasizes specific details which play on the alluring idea of what is seen, and what is hidden. The use of women’s undergarments represents everything women do to be their most courageous and confident selves, and questions how the novelty of delicate garments can change one’s self- esteem. Hidden from an outsider’s gaze, self- empowerment often starts from within. A woman’s choice of intimates expresses guilt free self-admiration, and the social ideologies of beauty become immaterial, and an individual’s boldness and radiance that is often vacant, shines through. This series acts as a reminder for self- care, to do something, no matter how small, that makes oneself feel confident and happy.
